About Kaitie Chakos
MS, RD, LDN (she/her/hers)
Growing up I had severe stomach pain which my mom called the “Family Stomach”. I thought that this is my body and was something I just had to “deal with”.
This pain continued until the middle of my undergraduate experience when I found myself holding a nutrition book at a local grocery store.
From that point, I was hooked. I did whatever I could to educate myself on nutrition. Over time, my pain had gone away! Through this process, I felt at peace with my body knowing that it was finally getting what it needed. That is a sensational feeling and is one that I want to share with everyone that I can. I know what it is like to feel “off”, to feel tired all of the time, to be at battle with my body. I do not want people to ever feel like they are just “dealing with” their health conditions and instead work with professionals to make changes to their lifestyle which will optimize their health.
Currently, I am a Licensed Registered Dietitian and I am continuing my nutrition education further in a Ph.D. program in that emphasizes the importance of nutrition interventions within the field of cancer research.
My Philosophy
As a Licensed Registered Dietitian, I focus on utilizing an evidence-based approach to help patients work toward their health goals. Specialties include GI issues, Women's health, and Plant-based nutrition. Having suffered from irritable bowel syndrome myself, I exhibit empathy and understanding about the process required to work toward improvement. I believe in individualized patient collaboration through nutrition counseling and education.
I also believe in the power of mindful eating as an approach to creating a positive relationship between food and our bodies.
